Role of assistant pharmacist in dispensing tincture iodine:

1. The preparation should be stored in airtight iodine resistant container.

2. The closure must have a liner made from a material (e.g. polyvinyl chloride) which is resistant to attack by iodine.

3. Additional label " store in a cool place" should be used because iodine is volatile.

4. For external use only.

5. Keep away from children.

6. Used as antiseptic for the intact skin and before operation also as antifungal.
