Role of assistant pharmacist in dispensing strong cetrimide solution:
1. It should be stored carefully otherwise it became contaminated with resistant organisms and rendered unsafe for use.
2. It should be made from freshly boiled water and packed in sterile containers.
3. Corks should not be used because they may be contaminated with micro-organisms.
4. Anti-infective solutions for application onto the broken skin or to eye or for introduction into the body cavities should be supplied sterile.
5. Excessive use of the solution should be avoided to guard against the occurrence of hypersensitivity.
6. Cotton, cellulose, soap, blood and other organic matters reduce the antimicrobial activity of cetrimide.
7. For external use only.
8. Keep away from children.
9. It should be used within one week (if non-sterile) or first opening (if sterile), and labeled accordingly.
