Role of assistant pharmacist in dispensing potassium chlorate and phenol gargle:
1. Mix with an equal volume of warm water before use.
2. A quantity of the diluted liquid is taken and suspended in the throat by slowly exhaling through it. The liquid is then rejected.
3. Don’t swallow this preparation.
4. It is not preferred in children under 7 years. Otherwise there is a risk of swallowing it.
5. It is used in treatment of sore throat and to relief throat pain (by numbing the painful or irritated areas).
6. The preparation should be protected from light (use amber bottle)
